A magical woodland hideaway for all the family at Falling Foss Tea Garden near Whitby
Close to Whitby and the rugged coastline of Robin Hood’s Bay, Falling Foss Tea Garden is an ideal destination to satisfy energetic kids as well as parents after beautiful scenery and a good cup of tea.
Hidden away in the magical woodland of Sneaton Forest, Midge Hall is a fairytale gamekeeper’s cottage that was built from fudge coloured sandstone in the 1780s. Today it’s the setting for a family-friendly tea garden with a playground, nature trails, waterfall and cave to discover.
My five year old immediately wanted to explore the impressive tree house and water pump by the stream. Children are encouraged to run, play and investigate their surroundings, all within easy reach of parents sat in the dappled sunshine enjoying homemade lunches, or simply tea and delicious cake.
It’s hard to draw yourself away. I had no phone reception, and away from the buzzes and beeps of modern technology it’s a place you can get lost for a good few hours, and maybe just find yourself again.
